INDIGENOUS ARTS

Megan Samardin, a youth singer, plays guitar and performs her own lyrics as well as covers. She has made a mini CD, featuring a track for the credits of a short documantary video film produced in Mount Isa. Megan represents Indigenous youth by being part of the national youth forum for Australian young people. Megan has performed in many school based productions and is on her way to a professional singing and theatre career.

Richard Percy is a respected elder in the Mount Isa and Camooweal community where he operates traditional cultural tours from the Kalkadoon Tribal Council. Richard features in a short documentary video on the history of the Kalkadoon people which is part of the Centenary of Federation exhibit for Mount Isa.

Barbara Sam - Visual Artist Painter. Represented Indigenous artists from this region at the 2000 Olympic artists display. Barbara is a Kalkdoon descendant and sell her work nationally as well as exhibits her paintings and craft at the Kalkadoon Tribal Council in Mount Isa.
