Centacare is the Catholic Church reaching out to individuals and families seeking assistance. We respond out of our commitment ot the Gospel values of dignity, respect and justice for all and offer a range of preofessional counselling, support & related services in partnership with the community & governments. Our Partnerships
Centacare's Services are partly or fully funded through partnerships with the following:
- Commonwealth Department of Family & Community Services
- Queensland Department of Families
- Selected employers, both Government & private and
- Extensive referral networks with Government and community agencies
What does Centacare do?
Centacare Catholic Family Services is a non-profit registered charitable institution, working under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
Centacare offers a range of services available to anyone. Centacare is a committed supporter of access and equal opportunity initiatives and provides services free from discrimination.
At Centacare we are committed to providing help to members of the community that can benefit in some way from our services. We encourage people to recognise their right to make choices in their lives and empower them to feel confident in making decisions. Organisers of Operation Christmas Child, a project of giving gifts to
children of impoverished countries.
The gifts consist of six items - something to love, something to play with,
something to write and draw with, something of personal hygiene, something
to eat or chew and something to wear. All items are presented in a shoe box
and will be sent to children in Papua New Guinea, Thailand & the Solomon
Islands for Christmas.
Anyone wishing to be involved with the project should contact Jeanette van
der Merwe on 4743 5515. Donations for the project can be dropped at the
Baptist Church on the corner of Isa and Deighton Streets.
