Mount Isa Sexual Assault Service

A comprehensive service offering a rance of options to women who have experienced past or recent sexual assault.

Office hours are 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Based in the Mount Isa Hospital, the Mount Isa Sexual Assault Service is a free, confidential service for women, provided by professionally trained staff, including social workers, doctors and nurses, experienced in working with issues of sexual assault.

Services on offer are:

• Counselling for victims of sexual assault (in particular assaults that occurred within the last 12 months);
• Counselling / Support for the partners and families of survivors of sexual assault;
• Support;
• Medical Care;
• Testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections;
• Emergency Contraception;
• Forensic examinations;
• Information and Referral;
• Assistance in contacting the Police;
• Confidentiality;
• Access to interpreters available.

For counselling of Childhood Sexual Abuse survivors, please contact the Statewide Sexual Assault Helpline on 1800 010 120 for referral to an appropriate service.
