North Queensland Area Consultative Committee (NQACC)

A key regional stakeholder: finding local solutions to local problems

North Queensland Area Consultative Committee (NQACC) is a key regional stakeholder strategically positioned to build community capacity and to find local solutions to local problems.

NQACC has a total of 11 Management Committee members from across the region and 2 ex-officio members. Due to the vast region we cover, NQACC has 7 sub-committees. Our Chairman, John Honeycombe, is appointed by the Minister for for Transport and Regional Services, Warren Truss.

NQACC members and staff work in partnership with government, business and the community to promote the strategies of economic, environmental and social development, as well as facilitating the Regional Partnerships grant funding program to the region.

The strategies developed by the NQACC provide direction and identify the region's priorities for Government funding through Regional Partnerships (RP).

The Regional Partnerships Program is a key regional development funding program of the Commonwealth Government and is administered through the Department of Transport and Regional Services (DoTaRS).

This program focuses on four areas:

  • Strengthening growth and opportunities
  • Improving access to services
  • Supporting planning
  • Assisting structural adjustment

NQACC is the best place to start if you wish to access funding through Regional Partnerships Program. We can provide information and assist in developing your application and we are the key providers of independent advice to the Department of Transport and Regional Services on all applications under this program, from your region.

NQACC will work in partnership with local governments, regional development organisations, community groups and individuals on new projects that generate economic activity, capacity building and community benefit.

NQACC also hosts another Federal Government Program:
