AAOK Moondarra Caravan Park Mount Isa is the closest accommodation to Lake Moondarra where you can fish for barramundi, and offers tour bookings for all Xstrata and mine tours. In August every year Mount Isa hosts the Xstrata Mount Isa Rodeo.

Lawn Hill National Park is situated approximately 400km
north-west of Mount Isa and 220km south-west of Burketown. Unsealed roads cover the last 280km from Mount Isa and the entire distance from Burketown. These roads can become impassable for extended periods after rain and travel by 4WD vehicle is recommended. Vehicles towing caravans should travel via the Burke and Wills Roadhouse.
As well as spectacular scenery and wildlife Lawn Hill also have
two areas open to view Aboriginal Art. The gorge has a prolific selection of Aboriginal middens and tool factories, which can be viewed, but are definitely not to be collected.
The Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service have built
some 20km of marked pathways providing access to the more spectacular viewing areas around the gorge area.
Grassed camp sites can be pre-booked prior to visiting with
specific sites set aside for buses or large groups. BBQ's, Tables, Shower & Toilet Facilities are supplied, but please collect your firewood before entering the park. No domestic pets are allowed, if you are traveling with pets, you can arrange them to be left at Adel's Grove Caravan Park for a small fee. |
